Can't believe I've done 300 posts....
I was hoping for something all profound and powerful for #300. It was suggested by Suzanne that I do "300 things about me"....but really, I don't think I could find the time to do all that! I thought about finding some HIGHLIGHT posts...but again, that's too time consuming.
So, I'll write about my show. Yeah, me....I'm doing a show. A MUSICAL. I need an outlet. Those who know me even a little teeny-tiny bit KNOW I'm musical. I sing, play instruments, and yes, I ACT. Haven't done a lot of it lately. Last time I did anything, it was dinner theatre, and I was 21! A LONG time ago, quite frankly (we're pushing 20 years ago!!!). So when my friend Shannon (who has sung with the 1ID band and attends the same church as us and shares my birthday, only she's 10 years younger, and .... well, you GET the picture - lots in common)...anyway, when Shannon called me last minute and asked if I was interested in auditioning, I said, "why not?" I wasn't sure I'd get ANY part, so I figured there'd be no commitment, really. I didn't even know what the show was about.
The show title? For Our Boys: A USO Tribute
The premise? Pretty easy...a history of USO shows....lots of "famous" people, lots of singing, a bit of dancing (I just do some swaying and snapping of fingers, thankfully!)
The following week, I got a call, asking if I'd be interested in the part of Dolores Hope. It wasn't a speaking part, but there was a singing duet to Silver Bells. And of course, I'd be a part of the chorus for the rest of the show. So I said, "SURE!" (for the record, Shannon was offered the part of Judy Garland - she SO has the voice for it, too!). We've been in rehearsal since mid-October, and it's starting to pull together nicely. We've had a few stumbles, like people not showing up for several days and then expecting to continue their solo part. But so far, it's been a lot of fun. I've gotten to know a lot of new people. Some rub me the wrong way, but that's what life is like anyway! Most of the people in the show are just so nice, and talented to boot! I like being a part of this again, this up on stage and entertaining thing.
The show runs at Junction City Little Theater from November 30 to December 2. The evening shows on the 30th and the 1st are at 8:00 p.m., and the matinee on the 2nd is at 2:00 p.m. If you're in the area (or a local reader), do come! If you're military, and you bring a guest, your ticket is FREE! Tickets are really reasonable too.
Here's the cast photo. IF you can guess where I am, I'll send you a little goodie. (there are some of you who REALLY know where I'm at in this photo, so I don't think you qualify, lol!)
Here's to THREE HUNDRED! And hey, let's shoot for 300 more!
