birthday fairy

We are heading out to a birthday party today. My friend's daughter, Alyssa, turns 5 this year. It's hard to believe we've managed to eke out 3 years as friends in the same location. We were able to celebrate Alyssa's 3rd birthday in Germany in 2006...and now, here we are, still celebrating in Kansas! As military families, this is too often a RARE occasion. You usually move on in 2 years, or your friends move the year after you get there...it's a never-ending cycle that sometimes hurts the heart.

But as blessings go, I wouldn't change it for the world. Because I am sure that I'll end up somewhere with one of my friends again!

Anyway, I made this cute card for Alyssa's birthday!

Happy Birthday, Suzanne!

Today you turn 39! And next year, you can celebrate the 1st anniversary of your 39th Birthday!

Hey, at least you're younger than me!!!!

I hope you get lots of squeezy hugs and sticky, wet kisses from your kiddos today...and a few not-so-sticky/wet kisses from the MAN!

Here's the card I made for you - it's in the mail!!!!

A slice of life

I created these cards using an idea I "borrowed" from Stamping Therapy. You can see the card HERE

Now...Jen (at S-T) said she made that card when she was a newbie, but I absolutely adored the colors - and I had that wonderful set, to boot! So I took her idea and went a bit further, and this is what I came up with.

I think the colors are fresh and lovely! The stamp set (fruit slice) is SU's Fresh Fruits (Definitely Decorative). The cardstock and matching ink are SU (Only Orange, Yoyo Yellow, and Green Galore); black cardstock is from hobby lobby; "The Good Life" stamp is Kollette Hall (thanks Suzanne for the wonderful RAK!). I stamped extra "slices" with versamark, and embossed with Uptown Accessories Glacier White embossing powder, and then cut them out, and used foam dimensional tape to "pop" the slice.

I think these cards are great, refreshing summer cards! I made 5 of each color, and played around a bit with coloring in the text on the words, but I think that these plain ones are the best!

I don't know why I'm on a card run....

but I am. These are variations on a color, basically.

I made the grey card at Stampalooza, hosted by Heather who is my TAC Angel. I liked the paisley set, so I bought it (along with the file folder coluzzle) and I'm glad I did. Using stock on hand (those stamps and coluzzle were purchased in January or February), I was able to make something really close to the original, and with a variety of colors!

For my cards: the paisley and small flower stamps are TAC (The Angel Company), ink is Stampin' Up!, flowers are Prima. The #4 is actually a # sign which I masked to make a 4 (I guess this means I really need a number set or two!) and the word "you" is from Hobby Lobby. The white cardstock is Stampin' Up. That's it!!!

Carded again...

Wanna be carded? I can send you one of these beauties...or another from my fabulous collection, you know....

Made this with DCWV paper (from The Angel Company, TAC), brads are MM. The swirly flower stamp is TAC as well, though I can't remember the name. Fun, easy. The sentiment stamp is Stampin' Up Sincere Salutations.

I have NO idea what happened to the scans on these - the background of the card is WHITE... PLAIN OLD WHITE!

Stamp set is Stampin' Up's Burst Into Bloom, along with all SU inks. Rhinestone brad from Making Memories. Yellow cardstock unknown. White stock is SU.

I made this card in a variety of colors - brights, all blue, subdued, fall colors, etc. Lots of fun. The flower is on a pop-dot, so it stands out on the card. No sentiment inside, though I could put one somewhere....

For HEAVEN'S SAKES...why does it look like a rainbow and SHINY? It's NOT you know...thought that's a GOOD idea, huh?

crafty me!

My little bugaboo asked to take a nap today - YAY ME! That meant a bit of crafty time for me.

I made cards today. I often frequent a blog called Sketch Me If You Can

Some of the sketches are for cards, others for scrapbook layouts - the card sketches could easily be adapted to a layout if you wanted.

There were two cards that kept catching my eye, so I decided to try them. I made two of each of the sketches. Here are my cards:

Cardstock: Bazzill (Thanks Sue!), patterned paper: My Mind's Eye (Everyday Tango paper pack), flowers, Prima collections, words and coffee cup - Cricut (Beyond Birthdays)

Cardstock: Bazzill, patterned paper: My Mind's Eye (Everyday Tango paper pack), staples: Walmart, misc. ribbon, and words: Cricut (Beyond Birthdays)

They are fairly plain...I probably should have done some edge distressing on the patterned paper, something to perk it up a bit...

But hey - I got to play today!!!!
