Garden Party

Today, the BSCC (Bamberg Spouses and Civilians Club) held a Garden Party. It was held on the lawn of the wife of the only General on post - BIG house, nice lawn.

The weather? PERFECT! Windy at times, but SO incredibly sunny and warm that the wind did nothing more than blow the napkins around. Everyone was requested to wear 'Garden Party' attire. So, what DOES one wear to a garden party? Since I have never been to anything like this, I decided to wear a pretty floral skirt and a green top. I wanted to wear short sleeves, but Hannah's bed rail BIT ME, and I have an UGGGGGLLLLLY bruise on my arm that would have shown. (story for another time)

It was a potluck luncheon. The food was wonderful. There was a great variety of everything, including desserts. Everyone was asked to bring a "make it, bake it, grow it, or buy it" item for a raffle of sorts. If you brought something, you got 6 tickets, which you would then put into a bag by any of the items you wanted to try and win. You could also buy more tickets (hedging your bets DOES work!).

I was gunning for 4 things: a pretty crystal dish (hors d'oevres), an Italian coffee basket, a Bath & Body Works basket, and a Polish Pottery bar pan (that matches the only unmatched bowl in my collection, lol). I ended up with 2 of those - the bar pan and the bath basket. There's a NEW fragrance in there called Brown Sugar and Fig which smells DIVINE.

They ended by putting all the tickets into one big container, and drawing for all the "left over" raffle items they had from the Bazaar in February. These items were donated for raffles and people never picked them up. I got lucky once more and got a Bamberg, Germany baseball cap.

It was my last luncheon with this group...I truly had a great time with them and enjoyed being a member of the BSCC.

There is nothing like a Pot Luck Party. The BEST party I ever had in my house was a Surprise Birthday gathering for a very good friend (Like 30 years ago...!) and it was a Pot Luck. THE BEST FOOD, Ever!!! I had never done it begore and I haven't everr done it since, either, but THAT was one spectacular food fest!
It sounds like you had a really lovely lovely day, Linda! Are you going to miss Germany?
