Random Dozen

Time to play Random Dozen again. This is actually sponsored by "2nd Cup Of Coffee" blog, and I didn't link the last time I played, so I'm linking today!

Today's Dozen:

1. Ever had any run-ins with the "library police?"
Mostly as a child, for not returning my books...and we had to pay the fines. But for the most part, the libraries I have been to in recent years are pretty good about not being overbearing.

2. Do you have a special organizational plan and place for wrapping paper, gift bags, etc., or do you just purchase whatever you need as you give gifts?
I have a bag that I keep most of my stuff in, and try to keep it stocked up. I usually buy a few rolls of "generic" paper for birthday/baby gifts, and I always keep tissue and gift bags from received gifts...but sometimes I run out and have to buy as I go.

3. Have you ever been in (first-hand witness) a natural disaster?
Well, the most recent that comes to mind is the tornado of 2008 in Manhattan KS. You can read about it HERE, HERE, or HERE. That was a pretty scary time. I do recall dealing with a hurricane in the late 70's or early 80's in Madawaska...and the St. John River flooded many more times than I can remember...but I think the tornado would be the biggest natural disaster I've experienced.

4. What's your favorite Barry Manilow song?
Can't Smile Without You. Don't know why, but it always has been

5. What's the best costume you've ever worn?
hmmmm...I think it was my "bat" outfit as a kid. I wore a black bodysuit and tights...made cardboard wings and secured them with a belt around my chest. Pretty unique for a 10 year old!

6. Which do you use more often, the dictionary or the thesaurus?
probably the Thesaurus...

7. What's your favorite breakfast food?
Pancakes - but they have to be cooked just right - a well-seasoned griddle with butter to make them ever-so-crispy.....

8. Have you ever purchased anything from an infomercial?
yup...more times than I care to admit. Biggest fail? The Six-Week Body Makeover.

9. Have you ever crawled through a window?
Yes...I lost the keys to my car (and apartment) at a Firemen's Parade in Dover Plains, NY. Ended up having to spend the night at a friend's house, then having him and his girlfriend drive me all the way to Meriden, CT, where we borrowed a butter knife from a neighbor and "broke in" to my apartment, so I could get the spare set of keys from my room. Then drove ALL THE WAY back to Dover Plains to get my car. A week later, someone found my keys and all was well with the world (except I requested they put better locks on my windows...hey, if I could break in, anyone could!)

10. Do you believe in love at first sight?
I believe that God will put someone in your heart if you meet that person, but it isn't necessarily "at first sight"....

11. How many pairs of jeans do you own?
Too many...in a variety of sizes...because my body shrinks and expands at will...or so it would seem...

12. If someone were going to bake a cake to honor/represent you, what would it be? (Think creatively, like Duff and Crew on "Ace of Cakes.")
To truly represent me, it would definitely be a "creative" cake...it would have to cover music (a trumpet, of course), photography (a camera and tripod), crafting (a sewing machine, knitting, scrapbooking and stamping) and the best part? The dusty bucket, mop and cleaning supplies in a corner, long forgotten, lol!!!

That is my favorite Barry Manilow song as well! I'll be back around your parts (with Margie) in May...17, 18, and 19...think we could catch up? It's the same thing I came for last year...
