of darkness and light...

So - following the theme of my new camera lens...

On Sunday night, my daughter said, "Mommy, you HAVE to see the moon!" I was downstairs and looked out, but didn't see anything. So, I grabbed my camera and went up to her room. We pulled up the blinds and there it was - AMAZING! I went right up to the window and zoomed in, leaving a bit of the treeline for framing the moon. I clicked. This is a SOOC shot (straight out of camera)...no editing has been done at all, except to watermark the photo.

After this, I decided to take my tripod out and set up for some night shots. It was really warm and the haze was building quickly...between that and the fogged up lens (must put some defogger on it) I couldn't get decent moon shots. There was a thunderhead/bank of clouds to the north and the lightning was magnificent. So I decited to turn my focus there. I set up for an 8 second exposure and started clicking away every 10 seconds or so. These are also SOOC, no edits! Here are a few results:

Most of the lightning was within the clouds, lighting them up in spectacular ways.

I did manage to capture a bolt or two...this was the most spectacular one I caught.

great back lighting...

When Hannah saw this next one she said: Mommy, it looks like the stone in front of the tomb and it's being blown away! (that statement blew ME away!)
