I sent some photos to Walgreens.com online for processing at our local store, so that I can pick them up later on today. I do this on a regular basis and have never had an issue.
Today, I sent my family photos in. These were shot in a session at the house I am taking care of (mentioned earlier, that she has a studio and she's allowing me to play in it!). So...I send my pictures in early this morning, because I want them printed so Scott can take them with him to give to his mom. An hour or so later, the phone rings...
It's Walgreens...they ask me if I have the copyright to the photos that I've requested for processing, because they appear to be professionally taken! (I swear, get a nice backdrop, some good lighting and you've got professional quality shots, lol! Thanks Ali!!!). I assured them that I owned the copyright to them, as I shot them myself.
Oh, they tell me...do I have some kind of proof? Uh....geez, how can I PROVE that I own them? I shot them, they're on my computer....even if I brought the memory card in with the shots, would that be proof?
But I am taking it as a compliment....tell me what YOU think!
Doesn't Scott look like he's LOVING this? I think this is a great shot of him!
Me and the kiddos....they are both REALLY tan...so what does that say for ME?
This gives you a better idea of the TAN...Our great family!
Not the best, but we haven't had a "couple" picture since our wedding!

They turned out so great! What did you do to finally convince Walgreens? I loved the one of Scott and the kids - and you and the kids too, of course, Ms. Coppertone!! lol
They are great!! The one of your husband and the kids is cute as can be and I liked the one of you and your husband together. Our pictures as a couple are few and far between.
Your photos are wonderful! They have such a natural relaxed feel to them. It's absolutely a compliment but how on earth did you prove they were your pics?
BTW - the postcard is on its way. Sorry for the delay but I really haven't been well lately.
Great pcitures! i can see why they thought they might have been professional shots.
quite a photogenic family you have : )
Those are fabulous. They really do look professionally done! Great job on that.
I'm here for the TP, but I got distracted by this post, because I've heard of others having similar experiences regaring copyright. The photo print stations are really cracking down on this.
But in your case, I can see why! It does look like you had them done by a professional. Except that your kids/family seem so relaxed, and that's not usually the case when you go to a professional. You guys were having fun, and it makes the photos extra special. I think I've found the secret to getting good family portraits: own your own studio and take them yourself! *giggle*

If I was an employee at Walgreens, I sure would have called you!
These pictures are better than most 'store professional' photos taken!
Well done!
Have you considered starting a side business? Your pictures have a much better quality than school pictures.
These are really good!
wonderful photos!
Keep those folks at Walgreens on their toes
This is something I have been putting off for way too long now! I need to do some family pictures so badly! These are great!
These are great! So I have to know now...what did you do to prove they were yours? Can't wait till you're in SC. We'll have to do a photography field trip together! I'm going to try and get a new camera for Christmas!
Okay - like everyone else - how did you prove they were yours? I've often wondered if this would happen with any of my photos - so far nothing - even the ones I've done for business - but I do remember being asked once at Wal-Mart & I just told them I was the photographer. Really great work. Your photography is just growing by leaps & bounds!!!! There is a link somewhere out on the net on how to build your own portable studio out of PVC pipe - in case you are interested. ;-)
Can I look after your friend's house the next time she goes out of town? :-)
These rock. Equipment be damned: your eye is frighteningly artistic.
Great compliment and great photos! I know you're proud of them!
So did you have to prove it? Or did they just print them? I can totally see why they second guessed it. Great shots!
