Prayers, please...

I received this email from a dear friend, Lori, last night. Her husband and mine go back a LONG way, and she's been a blessing in my life in SO many ways.

Lori writes:

"I have a request to make that will only take a moment of your time. There is a 17 year old from our church named Jared who passed out while watching a football game with his father last Saturday. When he regained consciousness, he couldn't remember anything. He didn't know his parents or his brother-nothing. Couldn't remember how to work a tv remote or even what the sport of football is all about.
Brian has been to the hospital twice this week and took Ryan with him this evening because Jared and Ryan had a special bond which goes back through many years of VBS. Of course, nothing registered with Jared upon seeing Ryan.
Please say a prayer for this young man. I have set up a prayer online at http://light-a-candle.org/Prayers/53332. I am tracking all of the responses and printing them for his parents. They have been at the hospital since last Saturday and are exhausted and devastated.
Our church family is going through a really rough period right now. Two weeks ago a young couple whose entire family goes to the church lost a 3 month-old son due to SIDS. We had all witnessed this child's baptism 2 weeks prior to his death. Now we are all rallying around Jared's family and praying for wisdom for his doctors to figure out this mystery.
Needless to say, we all have heavy hearts this Thanksgiving.
Only God can know why this has happened. We all continue to pray that he will be with these families that are hurting.
Sorry to go on, its just been an unbelievable couple of weeks."

Please, if you feel led, pray for this young man, and for this church and all involved. Take a moment to go to the prayer site. When you have read the request, click on "prayermail" or the candle, and type in a small prayer for Jared and his family. We all know that whenever two or more are gathered in His name, He listens...while we won't be "gathered" together physically, let us cover this young man and his family in strong prayer. God heals. We know. He hears our prayers.

Philippians 4:6 tells us: Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

Today, on this very special day of thanks, pray and present this request to God.

I hope the doctors get to the bottom of this soon and help that family. I feel for them and hope that their prayers are answered soon.

Okay, are you ready for a Christmas miracle and an answer to so many prayers? Jared has been home from the hospital for almost 2 weeks, but nothing had changed. The doctors simply sent him home because there was nothing else to do with his case. They had performed every test they could and found no reason for his loss of memory.
We saw Jared's uncle this evening and he told us that Jared woke up this morning, Saturday Dec. 20, and his memory had returned intact! He even picked up his baritone and played his entire half-time show from memory. Isn't this a wonderful example of the power of prayer?
I want to thank everyone who read this blog and said a prayer for Jared and his family!!! You all are blessings in your own right to reach out to someone you don't know and will probably never meet. We all have so much more to celebrate this Christmas, the gift of a memory!
