Simple Woman's Daybook

I used to do this regularly, but got out of the habit, so I'm trying to get back into it. It might get me on my blog more (and off facebook, lol)

Outside my window - very windy, but sunny after a hard-raining night.

I am thinking - I am happy that the laundry is almost done, and it's not even 2:00 p.m. yet!

I am thankful for - the blessing of life that God gives to me. Someone from my church, who is my age passed away last week, and this reminds me how precious life is. When God calls you home, will you be ready? I'm thankful that Sonya was a godly woman and it is with certainty that I know she is dancing with God.

From the kitchen - I did enough baking this weekend. I'm trying to come up with a good idea for a healthy, low-points meal for my husband and I, while satisfying the needs of the picky eaters that are my children.

On my mind - trying to remember to get Hannah to her first piano lesson, and to be sure that I have something to entertain Scotty while she takes it....

I am creating - nothing right now. I finished making a baby towel for a gift, and even thought I went "scrapbooking" on Friday, I didn't do much. I haven't even emptied my supplies from the van. That's on the "to do" list.

I am going - to meet the kids at the bus in about 45 minutes. We'll have a snack, do homework and head for piano lessons.

I am reading - several things at once. As you all know, I've started my Bible-reading challenge. I'm working on Bill O'Reilly's book "A Bold Fresh Piece of Humanity", as well as a book called "Jungle Pilot" by Russell T. Hitt. This book is about Nate Saint, a missionary who was killed in Ecuador by the people he was trying to minister to. I also started an "easy read" fiction book called "A Time for Dancing" by Davida Lewis Hurwin. It's a YA book, but I don't mind reading Young Adult books...I have read all the Harry Potter books and the Twilight series....

I am hoping - to not get sick, though it seems that I will not be able to fight this cold I think I am getting.

I am hearing - laundry clicking in the dryer, the washing machine in the washing cycle, the wind blowing outside.

Around the house - lots to do, but very little motivation to do it. 3 loads dry but not folded yet...one more in the dryer, one more in the washer. The sink needs to be emptied, and the dishwasher loaded (both can be accomplished together). Just need to do a lot of tidying up.

I am wearing - plaid fleece pants and a sweatshirt, though I do need to get dressed better when I take Hannah to piano lessons.

One of my favorite things - when my children bring home good report cards. Hannah got all A's again this quarter (as well as semester), and Scotty's continuing to progress well (they don't get letter grades in K)

Here is a picture I'd like to share:

This is a cousin that I met only once, when he was just over a year old. Unfortunately, his dad (my uncle) abandoned him when he was only 4. He is bitter, but is willing to get to know other members of "that" side of the family. Thankfully, we are not all like my uncle.

I am terrible at planning meals. That's something I've always said I'd work on and have never gotten right. Good luck with yours!

I need to find another book to read. I just finished Twilight and a Janet Evanovich book. I started daily Bible reading, but haven't been good at it thus far. :(

I will never understand how anyone could abandon a child.
