Blue tongues, Dinner plate flowers, happy smiles, and the Kansas Prarie

Just downloaded my flashdrive and memory card from the camera - all these pictures that have been stored up since May 9, when they packed up my beloved computer - WHAT TO SHARE????

Kansas Prairie:

This picture does not do justice to the beauty. We are in the Flint Hills, which mean rolling limestone hills beneath these prairies...rugged, rough, and beautiful. The Hills look artificial, as though they are man-made...

Dinner plate flowers - kid you not! LOOK at the size of that thing...bigger than Hannah's head!

Blue Tongue - I got Scotty and Hannah ring pops for being so good at a Mexican restaurant one night. I gave the blue to Scotty...BIG MISTAKE! Check it out!!!

Happy smiles - Scotty has mastered the slides ALL BY HIMSELF, and he's darned good at it, too!

And the last one is the kids at the scenic overlook on the way into Manhattan...they're just too cute!!!!

What Cute Kids!
Sometimes I wish my kids were still young & cute like that!
Here From Micheles, What kind of flower is that large one? I saw some similar but in a dark maroon color while driving past a garden center the other day & was wondering what they were & if they're hard to grow...

Your kids are so adorable!
The Home Depot near me has a hibiscus plant with a flower just like that one. I was stunned at the size of it!

opps, just read Becky's comment. LOL!
It does look a lot like a type of hibiscus. I could be wrong, however. But they're common where I live, and come in many colors and sizes. It's just that the one in this picture is enormous!

Just came across your blog...love it. I grew up in Kansas...went to college in Manhattan. Dad and family still live in Manhattan. Ft. Riley will be good to you I hope. I so miss those beautiful prairies. Connecticut doesn't have "open" areas like that. Sigh. Welcome back to the states!
