We had a wonderful Easter this year. It started off EARLY. After cleaning and shopping and baking all day Saturday, I had a 6:30 a.m. wake up call. Took a shower, got dressed, got the kids up, fed, and dressed, too. After we were ready, the kids and I headed out at about 7:40 a.m. to get to church. Since I play in the orchestra, I had to be there at 8:00 a.m. for rehearsal before the 9:00 a.m. service. The kids go with all the other choir and orchestra kids to one of the rooms in the childcare area, and they play or watch movies, then they are brought to their Sunday School classes.
Meanwhile, we had an AMAZING Easter Service. The music was powerful, the choir was intense. I CRIED...it's hard to read music (and play) while crying!!! It was beautiful. We had our Life Group after (Sunday School, lol) and then the kids and I headed home. The Easter Bunny managed to visit during our absence, and there were eggs to hunt, too.
After that, the kids had lunch. I was busy getting everything ready for our Easter dinner. Scott invited the single soldiers in his unit to the house for dinner. We had one person sign up on the list, and 3 others came, including a young couple. I made a spiral ham, fresh green beans (I do love The Farm Stand market down the road!), macaroni and cheese, pineapple stuffing. I was making rolls from scratch, but the yeast didn't set right (I only had a jar of yeast, and the recipe I was using called for 2 packets, and I didn't know the exact conversion), so they were rock-like. I sent Scott to Piggly Wiggly for some Kings Hawaiian rolls instead! I had baked some Caramel Apple mini-muffins and some Pecan Pie mini muffins, as well as a lemon cake with lemon glazing. All in all, it was a good meal, and I hope everyone enjoyed it!
Since blogger is being a pain about letting me post photos lately, here is a link to my facebook album for our Easter Pictures!
